An attractive and scarce silver Founder Medal of the Alliance No. 4809 E.C. lodge in Maymyo, Burma (now Pyin Oo Lwin, Myanmar), operating under the United Grand Lodge of England. Main pendant featuring a rather exquisite colour-enamelled Peacock at center, encirled by gold text within red-enamelled frame: "LODGE ALLIANCE No.4809 E.C. MAYMYO", blue lettering at bottom on white-enamalled ribbon: "TENDIT IN ARDUA VIRTUS"; on short light blue suspension ribbon, with enamelled silver clasp at top: "FOUNDER" in cobat-blue bar, "1926" below against white enamell; with small silver pin at center of ribbon, consisting of a pair of crossed feathered quills; medal itself blank on back, except for 1925 Birmingham hallmark of G. Kenning & Son at bottom. All enamelling intact, and housed in original Kenning & Son box of issue. Among the most attractive Masonic pieces we've handled to date, and a most interesting fraternal artifact from the British far eastern presence.
