An impressive 18.8cm wide, 17.5cm high two-handled trophy cup in Sterling Silver, weight of 1,088 grams, presented to Allan George in June of 1905 as the Prince's Golf Club "Scratch Prize". Son of Sir Ernest George, an eminent English architect and watercolorist, Allan George similarly studied architecture at the Royal Academy School in London before coming to Canada in 1911. Shortly after, he formed a 47-year partnership in Toronto with Walter Moorehouse, and together were responsible for the design of some of the city's most notable architecture, including Christ Church Deer Park, the Trinity College Chapel, and perhaps most notably, the Toronto Stock Exchange in 1937. A fine memento of this eminent Torontonian, and most worthy of proper preservation. (Net Silver content of 32.35 oz). Note our prior lot, a very early Sterling Cup to the elder Sir George.
