A 52mm, 59.2 gram medal in gilded metal, awarded by the Royal Society of Canada as the "Flavelle Medal" for Meritorious Achievement in the biological sciences. Past distinguished recipients include Sir Frederick Banting, Sir Arthur G. Doughty, George Lyman Duff and J.B. Tyrrell. Listed in the Charlton Medals Catalogue as Medal No.2680-5, with an "Extremely Rare" designation. We offer here an unnamed example, UNC with slightly foggy surfaces, and housed in a quite early light blue hinged presentation case. A nice Canadian piece - we can find no record of any previous example having been offered at public auction.
