A pair of 46mm medals in fine Silver (111.6 grams combined), awarded by the Agricultural Association of Upper Canada in 1867 to W.W. Kitchen. William W. Kitchen was a pioneering commercial winemaker and fruit processor, based in Grimsby, Ontario. He co-founded one of Canada's first commercial wineries in 1864, and was awarded a medal for his unfermented grape juice at the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago. Both medals are edge-dated 1867, with reference to "Sparkling Wines" and "Dry Wines", respectively. Both with clear wear, about VF with quite minor edge-nicks. A most interesting pair of medals, from this pivotal year in Canadian history.
