A set of two 25mm hand-struck tokens, issued by the Almonte (Ontrario) Coin Club in 2016 to commemorate both the R.C.N.A. convention in Ottawa, as well as the 125th anniversary of the invention of Basketball by Almonte-born James Naismith. One each in Brass and Aluminum, struck by coin club members using a traditional manual coin press. Obverse: basketball design, text within: "Celebrating James Naismith & 125 Years of Basketball"; Rev: the former Almonte Post Office clock tower, and national historic site designed by Chief Dominion Architect Thomas Fuller. The dies for these tokens were hand-engraved by a former banknote artist and master engraver. Note: aluminum sample included in this lot shows a delightful 5% off-center strike. (lot of 2 tokens)
