Obverse: Forepart of a crouching wolf left. Reverse: Large 'A' with crescent below, N and I across fields, all within incuse square. Sear(GCV)-2795 variant; about VF, nice toning (14mm, 2.6g).
Argos, still existent from ancient times, is located in the Peloponnese region of southern Greece. The wolf design refers to Apollo Lykeios ("Apollo Wolf") who was the patron god of the city.
