A 60mm bronze medal of [Noel] Auguste Delfosse, "Defender of Belgian Independence". A lawyer, industrialist and liberal politician, he became President of the Belgium Chamber of Representatives, later serving as Minister of State in the government of Rogier-Frère. Issued to mark Delfosse's death in 1858, the medal references a pivotal speech of March 1, 1848, in which the politician referenced the they-current revolution in France, and the lack of necessity for that event to spill across the border into Belgian politics. A pleasant AU/UNC medal
