An 82x55mm ATM punch-card of Brazil's Banco Bradesco, imprinted on back referencing the seaport City of Santos in Sao Paulo state, early 1970's. Made available only to the Bank's more elite clients, the cards were issued in sets of 3, and could be used in a secure room at the terminal to withdraw a prescribed amount of currency, simply by inserting the card and entering a user code. Unlike later conventional ATM's, however, these cards would be retained by the terminal for later verification and return by post. The consignor advises that bank clients had access to just a single terminal in the entire city of Sao Paulo, with a population at the time of 3 million residents. A most interesting and undoubtedly scarce piece of evolutionary banking history.
