A bar-mounted set of 5 medals: 1939-45 Star, Italy Star, Defense Medal, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Maple Leaf Clasp, and 1939-45 War Medal - with custom 65x13 mm silver placque attached at center-top of ribbons, engraved: "MAJ R.C. YELLAND / THREE RIV R. / DIED IN HIS COUNTRY'S SERVICE / 23 MAY 1944". Accompanied by his silver Memorial Cross in original box with chain and wrapped ribbon, back impressed: "MAJOR R.C. YELLAND", together with a small 47x35 mm black and white photograph of a tank in the field, with (presumably) Major Yelland atop. This poignant lot also includes the officer's black beret with Canadian Armored Corp cap badge, together with a January 22nd, 1944 center section of the Toronto Star Weekly that features a photograph and battlefield account from then-Captain Yelland. Reginald Clare Yelland appears to have been born in Peterborough, Ontario, and served with the Three Rivers Regiment of the R.C.A.R. (Lot of 8 medals/artifacts)
