Canada, 1994, Canadian Polish Congress metal, isued to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the founding of the current Canadian Polish Congress. From the Canadian Polish Congress website: The history of the Canadian Polish Congress is divided into two periods. During the first period, the central Polish organization in Canada was called the “Union of Polish Associations in Canada.” The Union was registered and began its legally sanctioned operations on February 7, 1933.” During the second period, the name was changed to the “Canadian Polish Congress” during a convention held in Toronto on September 2-4, 1944. The mission statement of the Canadian Polish Congress is as follows: “The Canadian Polish Congress is a Canadian organization that provides leadership to its community by unifying, coordinating and supporting Polish Canadian organizations. The Canadian Polish Congress represents our community’s interests before the people and Government of Canada by providing a strong national voice in the decision making of our government’s policies and promoting the rights of Polish Canadians to full and equal participation in all aspects of Canadian society. The Canadian Polish Congress promotes awareness of and respect for Poland’s history and heritage and the contribution of Poles to the culture of Canada and the world”. Obv: Middle of the metal displays the Congresses’ logo, an eagle head inside the body of a maple leaf and ‘227’ minting number on the lower left side of the logo. Around the top part of the rim is a pattern of small Polish Eagles and Canadian maple leafs interchanging in pattern with the date “1994” in the middle at the top. While the lower half of the rim states: “50th ANNIVERSARY OF THE CANADIAN POLISH CONGRESS”. Rev: Map of Canada with “KONGRES POLONII KANADYJSKIEJ” (Canadian Polish Congress) superimposed on the map.
