An interesting 38mm, 25.6 gram Silver Medal, presented to members of the 1951 "Weston Girls Tour". Established by W. Garfield Weston, a Canadian entrepreneur and member of the British House of Commons during WWII, the "Weston Girls" was a group of 50 young women who were selected from their high schools for an eight week sea voyage - to gain knowledge and understanding of the relationship between Canada and England, but also for educational experience and the "growth and development of individuals of promising potential". Rev: small sailing galleon at top, among waves, text below: "Tis the Set of the Sails / And Not the Gales / That Determines the Way / They Go", engraved "1951" below; Obv: eight small commonwealth symbols around top rim (Shamrock, Thistle, Maple Leaf, etc.), "W. GARFIELD WESTON GIRLS' TOUR" around bottom rim, small rows of text at center: "THE HIGH SOUL CLIMBS / THE HIGH WAY / THE LOW SOUL GROPES / THE LOW / AND IN BETWEEN ON / THE MISTY FLATS / THE REST DRIFT TO / AND FRO.". Edge-impressed "SILVER", housed in original blue Asprey of London hinged case
