An attractive 40mm, 38.2 gram medal in .900 Silver, presented by England's Royal Academy of Music to [engraved on reverse]: "WM. MAURICE / MILES / HARMONY / 1903". William Maurice Miles studied at the Academy from 1901-1905. A cellist, he immigrated to Canada in 1905 and played with the theatre orchestra in Winnipeg. Later moving to Vancouver in 1923, he had become principal cello of the Vancouver Symphony by the 1930's. He composed a number of works, including the Horn Sonata in 1929.
