A 38mm nickle-bronze medal, issued in 1971 by the Cape Breton Coin Club to commemorate the restoration of the Fortress of Louisburg by the Canadian Government. Rev: Chameau Treasure Chest, against map of Cape Breton and waves of sea, text around circumference: "CAPE BRETON COIN CLUB 1971"; Obverse: aerial view of old Louisburg with ships at sea, latin tex around rims in small lettering: "LUDOVICOBURGUM FUNDATUM ET MUNIT UM". Medal remains in original flip, stapled to descriptive info card, and is accompanied charming January 11, 1972 typed letter to the purchaser from then Club Treasurer Roy Ward, in which he encourages the giving of the tokens to students as gifts or "prises". The first example of this medal we have come across, in many years of dealing.
