A pair of 21mm brass medallions in gold gilt, issued to commemorate the 1892 wreck of the Hudson's Bay Company's "S.S. Beaver" steamship at Vancouver - affixed side-by-side with an early pin-clasp attached, with both obverse and reverse showing. Rev: floundering ship a center, text around outer rim: "WRECK OF H.B. COS S.S. BEAVER, VANCOUVER B.C.", text at lower center: "BUILT 1835 / RD / COPYRIGHTED", date at bottom "1892"; Obv: text around upper and lower rims, and at center: "THIS COPPER / WAS TAKEN FROM THE / H.B.COS / S.S. BEAVER / THE FIRST STEAMER / ON THE PACIFIC / ALSO / CROSSED THE / ATLANTIC IN 1835". A desirable piece of Canadian medalic history, both pieces the sharpest examples we have seen to date. (Note: medals edge-numbered 859 and 773).
