Israel, ca.1949- early 1950s, 11 piece coin set made by the private mint Matbeon in original red case of issue. The set includes the complete early Israeli coin denominations from the 1 Pruta - 250 Prutas. The coins are in nice uncirculated condition with the copper coins in a nice UNC red state, while the copper-nickel and aluminum pieces are bright and display uncirculated characteristics. The case itself is in a poor state of preservation with the cover completely detached from the rest of the case. The spine is delicate with tape residue and signs of attempted restoration evident. The front cover, while still displaying a good amount of the artwork and case details, is missing some pieces especially in the lower right corner. While it is not the scarcer silver version of the early Israeli coinage cases, this piece is a great example of the early Israeli Republic and its modern numismatic history. Case measurements: H 8.3 inches, W 4.5 inches (approx.).
