An impressive 75mm bronze medal by Allan Wyon, awarded as the John Millar Thomson Award for Chemistry by King's College London. Obv: left-facing bust of Professor John Millar Thomson, in academic cape and cap, text around outer rims; Rev: Coat of Arms of King's College London, text around rims: "COLL REG LOND MAGNA CVM LAVDE". Edge-engraved "RONALD . ARTHUR . HEACOCK . 1949". Born in London, Heacock completed his PHD in Chemistry at King's College by the age of 24, later emigrating to Canada where he completed his long career at Health Canada. Lot includes the following additional items: (1) 64mm antiqued bronze 25th anniversary medal for the Canada Medical Research Council in 1985; (2) 1914-1918 War Medal, edge-impressed: "2122 SJT. J. HEACOCK . MIDD. X R".; (3) 26mm, 9.5 gram Sterling Silver rowing medal with suspension ring, back blank except for Sterling hallmark; (4) 31x36mm Sterling Silver medal in with suspension ring, back engraved: "LD CLB / 2nd Prize / RECRUITS SQUAD / 1897-8 / PTE. A. HEACOCK", with impressed Birmingham hallmark at top; (5) 37mm, 15.8 gram Javelin medal by Pinches; (6) A hallmarked Sterling "A.R.P." (Air Raid Precautions) badge, with London 1936 hallmark; together with 4 other 1935 Jubilee commemoratives, etc. NOTE: Sergeant Joseph Heacock was a British Soldier who served in the Middlesex Regiment during WWI, and was killed in action in October of 1916 during the Battle of the Somme - his exact relationship to Professor Heacock remains to be determined.
