A 45mm medal in white metal, struck in 1846 to mark the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Macclesfield Sunday School in Cheshire, England. Rev: high-relief bust founder John Whitaker Esq., small text around bottom rim: "BORN NOVR 24TH 1772 . DIED OCTR 29TH 1820". Obv: large multi-floor building facade at center, "MACCLESFIELD SUNDAY SCHOOL" around upper rim, at bottom in small raised text: "FOUNDED MAY 6TH 1796 / JUBILEE CELEBRATED / MAY 6th 1846". Sharp AU/UNC with a couple quite minor spot of green residue on reverse; holed at top with light suspension ring. Remarkably, the original Macclesfield Sunday School continued to operate until its final closure in 1973.
