1) Liège, 1700. One Liard. Crowned Arms (Joseph-Clément, 1694-1723). Obv: Crowned, ornate four-fold arms on crossed sword and sceptre: 1 and 4: Arms of Palatine (lion). 2 and 3: Arms of Bavaria (Wittelsbach Fusils). Lettering: IOSEPH·CLEM·D·G·ARC·COL· (“Josephus Clementius dei gratia Arcepsiscopus Coloniae”). Rev: In the center perron of Liege. Arranged in cross four different coats of arms: Loon (top), Franchimont (right), Horne (bottom) and Bouillon (left). Lettering: EP·ET·PRIN·LEO·DUX·BUL·M·F·C·L·H· (“Episcopus et Princeps Leodiensis dux Bulloniensis Marchionis Franchimontis Comes Losensis Hornensis”) Joseph Clemens of Bavaria (1671-1723) was the 64 th Prince-Bishop of Liège, from 1694 to 1723, as well as Archbishop-Elector of Cologne and Duke of Westphalia 1688-1723; Prince-Bishop of Freising and of Regensburg 1685-1694; and Prince-Bishop of Hildesheim 1702–1723.
