A 27x35mm reverse tear-drop medal in 10K Gold, presented by the Native Sons of Canada to a Past President of the group. Medal itself with Beaver at lower center, multi-colour enameled Maple Leaf above, attractive band of blue enamel around circumference, with inset gold lettering: "NATIVE SONS OF CANADA / 100%". Two-part pink and blue ribbon has a trio of engraved suspension bars, from top to bottom: "PAST PRESIDENT", "1935 - N.C.", "1929-30". Otherwise blank medal back is engraved: "FRANK G.J. MCDONAGH / NO.80", impressed at bottom: "ALLISON / 10K". The Native Sons of Canada is described as "a Canadian nativist organization founded in 1921 in Victoria, British Columbia. It, along with the Ku Klux Klan and the Orange Order, was one of the preeminent nativist groups in the country". Born in Toronto on August 14th, 1896, Frank Gerald Joseph McDonagh enlisted with the Canadian Reserve Cyclist Company on his 19th birthday. He would later serve as Dominion President of the Canadian Pensioners Association, as well as Chairman of the CNIB Board of Directors from 1963-65. An attractive and likely scarcer medal from this lesser-known organization. (estimated gold weight of 12 grams, or .167 oz AGW)
