Netherlands, Metal, ca. 1936 commemorating the 85th general meeting of the Dutch Society for the Advancement of Pharmacy which was held in The Hague on July 7-9, 1936. The metal was presented by the “the Hague Department” of the society during the meeting. Obv: A young woman in a pharmacy under arches greeting the rising sun with arms raised. Rev: Upper and lower inscription around the top and bottom of the rim “LABOR OMNIA VINCIT- DIEM PROMIT SOL”. In the middle fields “AAN / DE LEDEN / V.D. MAATSCHAPPIJ / TER BEVORDERING / DER PHARMACIE / AANGEBODEN DOOR HET / DEPARTEMENT DEN DEN HAAG / T.G.V. DE 85STE ALG. / VERGADERING OP 7-8 EN 9 JULI / 1936. Artest: Christine Offerhaus (1872-1953), signed on obverse. Edge: Plain. Metal presents UNC details with nice bronze patina on both obverse and reverse sides. A very small cosmetic scratch on the reverse at 6 o’clock which does not take away from any intrinsic cosmetic appeal of the metal. An honest and original example of a metal which is a desirable piece for both metal collectors and collectors of medical/ pharmaceutical memorabilia. Bronze, 48.2g, 50mm.
