Netherlands, Award, ca. 1852 awarded by the Dutch Society for the Promotion of Industry in July of 1852. Founded in 1777 as the Oeconomische Tak (Economic Branch), the society changed names to the Nederlandsche Maatschappij ter Bevordering van Nijverheid in the early 19th century. It is the oldest economic and trade association in the Netherlands. This award was created to commemorate the 75th general meeting of the society. Obv: Allegorical scene of a man crowning a female figure who is leaning against a beehive which is a symbol often associated with industry and or commerce with above lettering around the top rim “EER EN VOORDEEL”(“HONOR AND ADVANTAGE”). Rev: oak leaf reath with: DE 75E / ALGEMENE / VERGADERING / DER / NEDERLANDSCHE / MAATSCHAPPIJ TER BEVORDERING / VAN NIJVERHEID / JULIJ / 1852 in the centre. Engraver/Maker: Unknown artist. Edge: Plain. Metal presents VF details with wear on highpoints on the obverse image. Rim nicks present at the 11o’clock mark on the obverse, still display well. Revers displays nice chocolatey tones with some minor nicks in the center of ‘NEDERLANDSCHE’, overall reverse displays well. Bronze, 60.4g, 48.5mm
