A 35mm white metal medallion by P.W. Ellis of Toronto, issued to mark the 1897 Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria. Rev: left-facing bust of the Queen, "VICTORIA" around top rim, "1837 / 1897" at left and right rims, "DIAMOND / JUBILEE" I lower feld below portrait, and at bottom center: "QUEEN / AND / EMPRESS". Obv: 8 Provincial [etc.] crests/shields around circumference, at center in raised text: "CANADA / CONTRATULATES / HER / QUEEN". On special clasp and pin, "TO THE SCHOLARS / OF TORONTO / SCHOOLS" on raised segments. UNC, and housed in original semi-intact Ellis card box and printed "Programme of Queen Victoria's Canadian Jubilee Medal" mini brochure (essentially detailing the medal, as well as an available souvenir spoon). A nice package, and especially uncommon to encounter with box and cert.
