Emperor Septimius Severus and Empress, 193-211 A.D., Silver Denarius. Septimus Severus. Obverse: Laurate head right. Reverse: Salus enthroned left, feeding serpent. RIC 236; EF (19mm, 3.4g).
Julia Domna. Obverse: Draped bust right. Reverse: Felicitas standing left, holding sceptre and caduceus. RIC 551; VF (19mm, 3.5g).

Septimius Severus was the first Roman emperor originating from an African province. He was also the only emperor to die in Britain at Eboracum (modern-day York). Severus was in Britannia campaigning in Caledonia (Scotland).
