A scarce 193x57mm red presentation case, originally produced for the Ottawa Mint's 1911 Specimen coinage ("1911" still partially visible on outer lid). Later repurposed to hold the Mint's 1937 coinage, as verified by the interior six-piece insets (Dollar, Half, Quarter, Dime, Nickel and Small Cent). Originally with a blue leather strip applied to outer lid to obscure the older date, which has now been removed from this example. Thus, one would likely classify this case as 9b according the Charlton catalogue, though with the 1937-era label removed, they suggest its current status to be "unofficial". Regardless, a scarce and desirable piece of RCM history
