Soviet Union, 1961, type coin set with original white cardboard holder, issued by the Bank of Foreign Trade of the USSR. Set includes 9 coins from 1 Kopek to 1 Ruble. The coins show great mint luster, with some displaying nice dark toning. The packaging is fresh and clean, with bright white paper. According to the Numista website, these sets were issued and sold to foreign collectors and tourists to earn hard foreign currency for the Soviet Union. Although these coins were minted in 1961, that was also the year the USSR underwent a major currency redenomination. As a result, these sets were likely assembled and sold closer to the end of 1964. Overall, a neat and interesting piece to add to any collection, especially if Russia, Eastern Europe and/or the Soviet Union is a region of interest/focus.
