A 30mm, 17.5 gram medal in .900 Gold, produced for the Volkswagen company and engraved "BAYER STAATSMUNZE 1964" around outer rim ("Bavaria State Coin 1964"). With reverse portrait of Heinrich Nordhoff, who led the post-WWII revitalization of Volkswagen, with text in German around rims, translated to "thanks and recognition for special achievements". Research suggests this was not an employee issued award, but rather presented to VIP's of with some importance to the company. AU, with light evidence of handling, housed in original blue box and believed to be quite scarce. (.5063 oz actual gold content)
