A pair of earlier 20th century steamship medals, as follows: 49mm bronze medal of the "Liberte" ship of the Compagnie General Transatlantique, sailing from Le Havre to New York; Obv: large ship at center, "LIBERTE" / LE HAVRE.NEW YORK / French Line" below. Rev; topless allegory for liberty standing center, facing left, broken chains suspended from both arms, large fish to left and right; edge-punched "Bronze", together with identified makers-mark in small triangle. Offered together wtih 53mm bronze medal of the Paris Mint, issued for the "France" ship of the Compagnie Generale Transatlantique (also Le Havre to New York route), Obv: ship at center, "France" above with date of 1962, name of company around lower rim; Rev: tradional French head of liberty at center, facing left, text above: "ELLE . POURSUIT . SON . ESSOR.", and around lower rim: "TECHNIQUE . ECONOMIQUE . ET . SOCIAL" . Edge-impressed "Bronze", with Paris Mint mark. Both AU/UNC, and a nice pair for the theme. (Lot of 2 medals)
