A massive 113 mm, 457 gram bronze medal, issued in 1915 to commemorate the German Grand-Admiral Alfred Von Tirpitz. Obv: bust of Tirpitz, date of 1915 to left, text around circumference, [translation] "Every German ship is a deadly arrow in England's heart. Rev: a large steamer, torpedoed and sinking, with crew rescued in a lifeboat by submarine; on right edge, two rats swimming; text around upper rim, [translation] "Orders: Sink the ship, save the men". Cast by Paul Sturm, while Professor for sculpture at the Dresden State Academy. EF, with light wear on the highest point, and the first example of this impressive medal we have seen or handled in 30+ years of dealing
